# Preface Date: 14 March 2026 Happy Pi Day, to all that celebrate! Tomorrow will be the Ides of March. And yesterday was the second Friday the 13th this year. It's an exciting weekend. # Part 1: Non-Fiction ### 1.1 College 2.0 (what I can share, anyway) This is where I'll share any works I've pub I've published. # Part 2: Fiction There were a lot of words spelled out for fiction. Three things in particular: I finished a short story draft (finally), I wrote some flash fiction, and I am making progress for the scripts for my visual novel. ## 2.1 Short Story Titled: Word count: Synopsis: Notes: Nothing here this week. ## 2.2 Project Madison Flame Word count: Synopsis: Notes: I will be able to get back to this once my visual novel is done and over with. ## 2.3 Project Moonshadow Word count: 1,577 Synopsis: Isaac talks to an old man about a memory falsely taken from him. Notes: This was the final piece to this puzzle. And what's interesting is that it's the middle of the short story. I have been learning a lot about writing in a non-linear fashion. My brain still seems to think I can write these things in order. But this project has taught me how writing out-of-sequence can help a story out tremendously. So that's a wrap on Draft 1 of this short story. Now I need to shelve the project and let the dust settle before I can go back and start making revisions. I know by the sparse descriptions alone this story won't make all that much sense. But I hope to get this published in some way at some point so that interested people can read this story. ## 2.4 Project Castro Word count: 1,478 Synopsis: Conversations Notes: Dialogue is still difficult for me. This visual novel is, as far as writing goes, all dialogue. So it's been a *journey* to figure out how to break these conversations down into smaller bite-sized chunks. And also still give the player character room to choose conversations. And the backgrounds. I have figured out that there is so much background for this to work at all. Because the characters are discovering things about other characters. So that means I need to write things out messily in my creative journal, then type things up, then see how it's all revealed in Twine so I can send it all off to the person who codes everything. I also still need to complete the backgrounds designs... ## 3. Substack **Please note:** I'm stacking my fiction and (eventually) non-fiction for Fridays in future. So you won't immediately see the content for Substack. It's queued up. ### 3.1 Flash Fiction Friday 347 "Rumour Mill" Titled: Rumor Mill Date: 13 March 2026 Word count: 603 Synopsis: A high school student starts a rumor to stay in standing with the popular girl. Notes: This is my submission for [**@flashfictionfridayofficial**](https://www.tumblr.com/flashfictionfridayofficial/). This is a weekly prompt that I try to participate in every week. Some weeks I can’t think of anything, other weeks I do. ## 4. Link Roundup Below is a complete list of this week's links. I realize that if I'm gonna be showing off, the least I can do is have all my links in one basket, rather than scatter them about. They aren't seeds. Plus it makes it easier when I do this on Sunday. ### 4.1 Substack [Rumor Mill](https://open.substack.com/pub/aroacephoto/p/rumor-mill?r=2getsk&utm_campaign=post&utm_medium=web&showWelcomeOnShare=true) ### 4.2 Tumblr [Rumor Mill](https://www.tumblr.com/acewriter/811020243977764864/rumor-mill?source=share) ### 4.3 The Kitchen Sink I've been talking about that "feeling old" moment a lot lately. Depending on whomst I am with, it's totally fine. But this [YouTube video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K2cYWfq--Nw) is one of the goats. It was one of the ancient texts of yore. And it came out when I was graduating high school back in 2008. Which is... ugh... 18 years ago. No, tis not Rick Astley. And this be NOT an attempt at Rick Rolling you. Because the oldest version of [THAT VIDEO](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dQw4w9WgXcQ) is a mere 16 years old (that I could find). Since I'm suddenly on a roll, [here is also a video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0-2Cizg3KbA) that Jensen Ackles and partner did a few years ago. # Conclusion Now if you'll excuse me, I need to finish Assassin's Quest. It's the third book in a trilogy. And yet, it is only the first trilogy! This series has me gripped. And I cannot put it down. Which makes me wonder how I got all that background written down for Project Castro. Thanks for reading, and I'll see you next week! The below table is mostly for myself. But if you, like me, enjoy seeing numbers go up in any capacity, then this may be for you as well. It's meant to be an encouragement to keep on writing. I tally up all the different categories of writing that I contribute to. I keep track of them monthly. | Word Type | Monthly Totals | | --------------------- | -------------- | | Project Castro | 1,478 | | Project Moonshadow | 1,577 | | Flash Fiction Fridays | 603 | | Non-Fiction | | | Short Story | | | TTRPG | | | College 2.0 | 134 | | Grand Total | **3,792** |
