# Preface
Date: January 4, 2025
**Please note:** I'm stacking my fiction and (eventually) non-fiction for Fridays in future. So you won't immediately see the content for Substack. It's queued up.
This week was wild to keep track of since the new year happened in the middle of the week. Which means I had to transfer words a little bit. And since I'm keeping track of individual months, half of this week's word count is going to December!
This likely means absolutely nothing to most people. But this whole blog is what's encouraging me to keep writing. I'm very picky and get rather sullen easily. And Reginald the Inner Editor is always telling me I'm not writing enough (he needs to shut up). It's a big mess. And keeping track of numbers is the best way.
I'm going to tell you the December total here and will continue my hyper-specific word count starting for the new year at the bottom as usual.
For December I wrote a substack article (link below) on my Freewrite Typewriter (not a spon, but it would be lovely if they did those sorts of things) on the 31st. That jolted the tally to a pearl-clutching 12,744. As of yet, that's my highest number yet.
# Part 1: Non-Fiction
## 1.1 Substack
Titled: Have a very Science-Fiction-y New Years!
Date: December 31st, 2025
Word count: 575
Synopsis: Wishing everyone a pleasant new year.
[Substack](https://substack.com/home/post/p-183108081)
Notes: I talk about how I fell in love with the comic series Starstruck. How I fell in love with satire all over again. Very similar to when I first fell head over heels with Arthur Dent and that series in middle school. How I'm watching a lot of Dimension20 shows and trying to take notes.
If you decide to read it, I hope there's even a little bit of something inspirational. Because I'm sure as hell being inspired lately.
## 1.2 Substack again
Titled: Who cares?
Date: December 30, 2025
Word count: 428
Synopsis: A short think-back on my days as a filmmaker, and the guys who focused on (imo) the wrong things in fiction.
[Substack](https://substack.com/home/post/p-182991388)
Notes: I thought these guys were clever, but looking back all they did was complain about really specific things. They focused on everything except the themes of a movie or show. Maybe that's why I see their stuff as having little substance now. That's not meant to diss any of them. I just think they were focused on the wrong thing.
# Part 2: Fiction
## 2.1 Flash Fiction Friday
XXX "Prompt"
Titled:
Date:
Word count:
Synopsis:
Tumblr
Substack
Notes: Nothing on it this week.
## 2.2 Project Madison Flame
Word count:
Synopsis:
Tumblr
Substack
Notes: Nothing on it this week.
## 2.3 Project Moonshadow
Word count: 1,112
Synopsis: Isaac faces his past in ways he never imagined.
Notes: I had a conversation with a friend about Pluribus. I was on the second episode and mindlessly started talking about it a bit. He very kindly asked me to not reveal details about the show. That sent me down a couple of thought-spirals. One of which was being sorry that I did that without thinking, and two there were some feelings that I decided to pour into Isaac.
See, I'm dealing with being a people-pleaser. And so is Isaac. We're both dealing with this in our own ways. Me: getting to talk it out with a friend about this particular thing. Isaac: he gets to fight his demons while fighting the Fae.
This particular scene is the middle part of what I'm calling the Blue Line Chapter. It's the last chapter in the story, and is also the finale. But what I wrote on New Year's day is merely one step closer to that.
## 2.4 Project Castro
Word count:
Synopsis:
Notes: Nothing on it this week.
# Conclusion
It's rainy season in the San Francisco Bay Area right now. So it's easy for this time of year to be gloomy for a lot of people. But I'm figuring out ways to fight the seasonal depression. For New Years Eve I ended up going to the rooftop deck of my apartment building to see if fireworks would still go off in spite of the rain. Turns out there were several people up there already. I got to meet them, and when it came time to keep track of the time a neighbor on the same floor as me also showed up. We both talked until it was time to countdown. And then we all yelled HAPPY NEW YEAR as loud as we could. Then we got to see the fireworks going on in the rain. I took a video of it, but it's shoddy and wouldn't make sense to anyone but me.
Right now I'm setting up goals and such. I want to move to Germany and go to school. But damnit if they aren't incredibly complicated to get into. But that's alright. I hope to move out there one way or another. I hate this country and really want to be in another one.
On a more positive note, I'm going to museums and planning how to approach my Horror and Queer Urban Fiction stories.
I hope you have a nice day!
Thanks for reading, and I'll see you next week!
The below table is mostly for myself. But if you, like me, enjoy seeing numbers go up in any capacity, then this may be for you as well. It's meant to be an encouragement.
