# Preface
Date: 28 February 2026
Ok, not EVERY week is going to be action-packed. One week I literally almost got sent to the hospital because a car was careless. THIS WEEK, however, this was dramatic in a very different way.
It was writing, of course. Though I'm also doing a lot of personal work. Like looking at my own assumptions and biases and working through them so I can move forward with life-stuff. Such as college admissions.
A concrete example of this is that I had to contact my ole University of Memphis to tell them about my name change. And then also order a new version of my degree with the new one. All so I can create a digital copy and share that with my graduate school of choice.
Anyway, on to the writing part...
# Part 1: Non-Fiction
### 1.1 College 2.0 (what I can share, anyway)
I have dreaded writing a Letter of Motivation for several months now. I've roped one person in on this to help me figure this out. And I finally feel like I can get somewhere with this.
This one is tough because I've realized I have a fear of talking about myself. And that's important I work on this since I intend on becoming a teacher now.
I also wrote a poem for my creative writing class. Link Below. It's about emotional regulation. I called it Emotional Plumber. Check it out and lemme know what you think!
# Part 2: Fiction
I've been writing so many thousands of words lately, including revisions. And this has made one thing come to an end: My Anxiety Potion short story.
## 2.1 Short Story
Titled: Anxiety Potion
Word count: 618
Synopsis: A Berkeley witch meets a transgender guitarist while working on a potion that's meant to take away her anxiety. But will she make it in time to tell her how she really feels?
Notes:
I've submitted my story for their approval to ~~the midnight society~~ Sorry, old jokes die hard. Submitted for the approval of the fine folks at [Scylla](https://www.scyllapublishing.com), I have submitted my final version. This was a hella crazy thing. Last week I wrote about a thousand extra words to meet the minimum. But it wasn't just fluff to bloat the story. I had needed more examples of magic, more anxiety for our MC to overcome. And I just needed more of the two characters falling sapphically for each other.
## 2.2 Project Madison Flame
Word count:
Synopsis:
Notes: Nothing to speak of this week.
## 2.3 Project Moonshadow
Word count: 835
Synopsis: Isaac faces his past in ways he never imagined.
Notes: I have had this idea that I wanted to play with. It is wrong for sexism to exist, and yet it does. With this being said: I wanted to take the idea that men aggressively hit on women and flip that idea on its head.
What if a gay man was the one being aggressively hit on? And the woman didn't stop? This is what I started to explore in this week's chapter. The second to last chapter, specifically.
It happens a couple of times in the story. And I can't wait to revisit all of this when I go back to make revisions.
## 2.4 Project Castro
Word count: 929
Synopsis: A college student participates in a local scavenger hunt when he accidentally switches backpacks alongside his phone with proof of found items with an equally motivated (and flirtatious?) person from an opposing team.
Notes: I have completely restructured the background of this game. What started out as an innocent stop to pick up medications has turned into what could and ought to be a much larger visual novel.
BUT I am keeping the scope small and focusing on the last chapter of this story. The plot itself will largely be the same: Devin has to talk to some friends in order to get his phone back. Conversations and shenanigans ensue.
## Monster of the Week
Word count: 320
I posted a recap of the next Mystery I'm hosting. I feel as though I'm getting better at those. It's highly structured with the LAST TIME ON... including the somewhat leading questions that leads into the YOU'LL FIND OUT IN THIS EPISODE. It's honestly a pretty fun format.
## 3. Substack
**Please note:** I'm stacking my fiction and (eventually) non-fiction for Fridays in future. So you won't immediately see the content for Substack. It's queued up.
### 3.1 Flash Fiction Friday
345 "Lush Life"
Titled: It's a Trap!
Date: February 27, 2026
Word count: 993
Synopsis: Johnny finds his way into a lush other-worldly place while finding his friends. He figures he is walking into a trap, and does so to save his friends.
Notes: This is my submission for [**@flashfictionfridayofficial**](https://www.tumblr.com/flashfictionfridayofficial/). This is a weekly prompt that I try to participate in every week. Some weeks I can’t think of anything, other weeks I do.
## 4. Link Roundup
Below is a complete list of this week's links. I realize that if I'm gonna be showing off, the least I can do is have all my links in one basket, rather than scatter them about. They aren't seeds. Plus it makes it easier when I do this on Sunday.

[List Game](https://www.tumblr.com/aroace-reblog/809956757588901888/its-only-11pm-whats-the-worst-that-could?source=share). This game has actually taken up quite a bit of my weekend. I didn't think I'd like this game. But I am, as difficult as it is. Here is a [direct link to the game](https://thomaswc.com/2025.html) if you'd rather click that instead.
# Conclusion
On Monday I submitted Anxiety Potion. On Friday I wrote over 1700 words and then wondered why I suddenly became overwhelmed at such a large writing day. So I'm guessing this upcoming week may be slow-going.
I ended this month on a pretty strong note. The second week was my strongest at over 5.5K words, with this last week coming in rather close at 4K words. I do feel encouraged at writing more. However, I am keeping in mind how much I need to rest and relax. I say that as I need to get back to work on a poem for class... Oh well!
Thanks for reading, and I'll see you next week!
The below table is mostly for myself. But if you, like me, enjoy seeing numbers go up in any capacity, then this may be for you as well. It's meant to be an encouragement to keep on writing. I tally up all the different categories of writing that I contribute to. I keep track of them monthly.
